Description
The “Hand” corkscrew #4222 was designed by Carl Auböck II in 1952/53. Its sculpturally modelled hand in polished brass holds the spiral with a gesture that feels both humorous and entirely natural, creating a functional bar accessory with an unmistakable personality.
The handle is made of burnt rattan. Its dark, textured surface contrasts beautifully with the lustrous brass and gives the object its archaic material character. The corkscrew continues to be elaborately produced in the Viennese workshop using traditional sand casting and the original casting moulds.

Info: After some time a patina can develop on the polished brass surface, which can be polished off with a soft cloth and then brass polish - if desired. Through the use of the original mold small errors, such as scratches or small creases can arise in the polished surface, which, however, do not detract from the charm of the object and underline the craft manufacturing process.
