Description
The “Skull” corkscrew #4230 was designed by Carl Auböck II in 1952/53. Its sculpturally modelled skull in polished brass gives this functional wine accessory a powerful yet subtly playful presence.
A cover made of burnt rattan encloses the spiral and also serves as a handle. Its dark colour and lively natural texture create a striking contrast with the warmly reflective brass. Elaborately produced in the Viennese workshop using traditional sand casting and the original casting moulds, the corkscrew is a distinctive bar object poised between practical function, craftsmanship and sculpture.

Info: After some time a patina can develop on the polished brass surface, which can be polished off with a soft cloth and then brass polish - if desired. Through the use of the original mold small errors, such as scratches or small creases can arise in the polished surface, which, however, do not detract from the charm of the object and underline the craft manufacturing process.
