A horseshoe for the desk – and an unexpectedly practical pencil holder
The “Horseshoe” is a characteristic small object associated with the Werkstätte Carl Auböck. The familiar form of a horseshoe is made from solid brass and given a new function through its weight and proportions: as a paperweight, it keeps papers securely in place, while the opening of the horseshoe can simultaneously be used as a pencil holder.
This combination of sculptural form and practical function is typical of Auböck’s small objects. A familiar everyday form is not decorated or embellished, but reduced to its essential lines. The result is an object that works naturally on the desk while also functioning as a small piece of design.

Details
Material: Solid Brass.
After some time a patina can develop on the brass surface, which can be polished off with a soft cloth and then brass polish - if desired.
Through the use of the original mold small errors, such as scratches or small creases can arise in the surface, which, however, do not detract from the charm of the object and underline the craft manufacturing process.
