Bookmark "paper clip" XL - Polished Brass

A paper clip that is anything but small.

The “Paper Clip” XL bookmark was designed by Carl Auböck III in 1960 and has been produced by the Werkstätte Carl Auböck ever since. The deceptively simple design enlarges the familiar form of a paper clip to an almost sculptural scale, transforming an everyday office object into an exceptional design piece.

The XL paper clip works as a bookmark, but can equally be used as a paperweight or simply displayed as a solitary object on a desk. This versatility is very much in the spirit of Carl Auböck: a clear idea, a reduced form and a surprisingly broad range of uses.

The Paper Clip is made from solid polished brass and produced in Austria. At 22.5 cm in length, it has a remarkable presence and almost resembles a small brass sculpture.

An exceptionally simple object – and precisely for that reason a perfect example of Carl Auböck’s ability to transform an everyday form into a timeless design piece.
