Description
The iconic Carl Auböck Hand in an exclusive finish. Instead of the traditional high-gloss polish, this version features a matt brass surface, giving the organic form a particularly calm and contemporary appearance.
The design was created by Carl Auböck II in 1952/53 and is one of the best-known small objects produced by the Werkstätte Carl Auböck. The Hand forms part of the famous Walter Gropius Set, together with the Foot, Egg and leather-covered stone. Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus and a friend of Carl Auböck, used the ensemble himself on his desk.
The matt finish is exclusively available from Contemporum. It changes the character of the object without altering its original form: the brass becomes more restrained, allowing the organic silhouette of the hand to take centre stage.
An iconic Auböck design, reinterpreted through an exceptionally restrained surface finish – exclusive to Contemporum.
