Description

A paper clip the Auböck way. The “Clothespin/Kluppe” was designed in 1962 by Carl Auböck III as both a note holder and paperweight. Its simple yet elegant design combines a clear geometric form with a functional mechanism, transforming an everyday office object into a distinctive Auböck piece.

Particularly remarkable is its spring mechanism. It is still manually produced today by a specialist workshop in Vienna according to traditional methods. Hidden inside this seemingly simple desk object is therefore a small piece of Austrian craftsmanship.

A particularly fine example of Carl Auböck’s ability to transform a functional object into an independent design piece – reduced, practical and characterised by the distinctive combination of precision and humour found throughout his work.

Details

  • Info: After some time a patina can develop on the polished brass surface, which can be polished off with a soft cloth and then brass polish - if desired. Through the use of the original mold small errors, such as scratches or small creases can arise in the polished surface, which, however, do not detract from the charm of the object and underline the craft manufacturing process.

On request, the clip is furthermore available in a very nice patinated version.
