A small piece of design history you can hold in your hand. The iconic “Hand” paperweight was designed by Carl Auböck II in 1952/53 and is one of the most recognisable objects from his early modernist work.
The Hand forms part of the famous four-piece Walter Gropius paperweight set, together with the Egg, Foot and a leather-covered stone. Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus and a friend of Carl Auböck, used the set himself in everyday life.
Produced in Austria according to the original design and using the original casting mould, the Hand is made from beautifully polished brass.
An iconic Auböck object in miniature: functional, sculptural and unmistakably modernist.

Info: After some time a patina can develop on the polished brass surface, which can be polished off with a soft cloth and then brass polish - if desired. Through the use of the original mold small errors, such as scratches or small creases can arise in the polished surface, which, however, do not detract from the charm of the object and underline the craft manufacturing process.
