Bitossi Ceramiche

Makers & Designers . Since 1921

The ceramic manufactory Manifattura Bitossi was founded in 1921 by Guido Bitossi near Florence. With the entry of Aldo Londi (1911-2003) as creative director, the company underwent an important change from 1946 and moved in a modern direction.

Timelessness, aesthetics and functionality merge in Aldo Londi's numerous designs. We are showing exhibits from the well-known Rimini Blu collection, which was created between 1956 and 1965 and includes around 150 designs.

Aldo Londi also engaged designers such as Ettore Sottsass, Piero Fornasetti and later Matteo Thun, who designed numerous ceramic objects and thus gave the manufactory a big name in the Italian design history.

Bitossi now invests primarily in research and design of designer ceramics while continuing to interpret the tradition by proposing Aldo Londi’s iconic subjects. It is no coincidence that many external collaborators, architects and designers are inspired by the techniques of the past that are documented in the Historical Archivies, in the incessant search for balance between know-how, innovation and research.

Of course, all products are still made by hand. And of course, sometimes it also requires - if not in stock with us - a waiting time of currently approx. 8 weeks.
