Description
Aldo Londi designed this expansive Rimini Blu plate for Bitossi in 1953. Its low circular form becomes a broad canvas for the rhythmic surface decoration that defines the collection.
Abstract geometric motifs are impressed into the ceramic by hand. Beneath the brilliant crystalline glaze, the marks develop changing concentrations of turquoise, marine blue and dark cobalt.
At 37 centimetres in diameter and approximately 2.9 kilograms, the plate has a substantial physical presence. It may be used as a charger, a shallow bowl or a decorative centrepiece for a dining table or sideboard.
Each example is decorated and glazed by hand in Italy. Natural variations in pattern, colour and finish give every plate its individual character.
