Vicara

VICARA is a Portuguese design company that has been producing exclusive product collections for the home since 2011. Founded by the two local designers Paulo Sellmayer and João Marcão, VICARA sees itself as a design agency that works closely with designers and exclusively Portuguese craftsmen. Over the years, an extensive and growing terracotta collection for the dining table has been created - the theme of "sharing" at the table is written large here and also celebrated.

Ceramics are a central element in Portugal. After all, Portugal is the second largest producer of ceramics in the world. The dedicated, traditional craftsmen of VICARA cast or mould by hand the respective products in stoneware. Moreso, one of the main clusters for ceramics in Portugal, is located in the central region of Portugal, where the VICARA company itself is also located.

Another main cluster for ceramics from Portugal is in particular the town of Caldas da Rainha, which is known for ceramic tiles, sculptures and traditional crafts. There, too, handicrafts are made for VICARA.

At the end of 2023, VICARA decided to take a longer creative break after more than 10 years of activity. Our products presented here are currently the last available on the market.
