Description

A small planet for the table.

The “Satelite” was designed by Carl Auböck IV in 1983 and reissued in 2022. The two-piece ashtray is made entirely from polished brass and continues to be produced in Vienna.

Two interlocking, geometrically reduced forms create a surprisingly sculptural object. The name “Satelite” is quite fitting: the two elements appear like small bodies orbiting one another while remaining a coherent whole.

As so often with Carl Auböck, the object goes beyond its original function. The “Satelite” can be used as an ashtray, but works equally well as an elegant container for small utensils.

A design from the later period of Carl Auböck IV – reduced, precise and marked by the playful simplicity that characterises the Auböck workshop across generations.
