Description
A walnut – in brass. Sometimes, that is all it takes.
The “Walnut” paperweight was designed by Carl Auböck III in 1960 and is one of the particularly charming small objects created by the Werkstätte Carl Auböck. The natural form of a walnut is translated into solid brass, giving it weight, durability and an entirely new presence.
The design is remarkably simple and precisely for that reason so convincing. An everyday natural object becomes a precisely crafted desk object. Its organic form feels natural in the hand, making the paperweight as much a tactile object as it is a functional accessory.
A small object with a strong presence – and a perfect example of Carl Auböck’s ability to transform the everyday through material, scale and form into timeless design.

Material: Brass polished.
After some time a patina can develop on the polished brass surface, which can be polished off with a soft cloth and then brass polish - if desired.
Through the use of the original mold small errors, such as scratches or small creases can arise in the polished surface, which, however, do not detract from the charm of the object and underline the craft manufacturing process.
