Behind Carapau Portuguese Products are the two very likeable Portuguese graphic designers Rita Faria and Tiago Couto.
They create contemporary and high quality products under their label Carapau Portugese Products with a focus on sustainable design, colour and reinvention of traditional Portuguese materials.
We, at Contemporum. don't see these graphic-inspired animals as only suitable for children. On the contrary. These animals also look very good in the living room of parents. Simply as a timeless stylistic device that brings joy every day.
Carapau Portuguese Products makes its products with high quality and ecological traditional Portuguese raw materials, combining old knowledge and skills in manufacturing with contemporary design. The exciting main material from Portugal is called Burel and would be called felt at us.
All products are personally handmade in their studio in Porto, Portugal. Carapau also supports nature conservation. With every purchase of a Carapau animal, 3% is donated to conservation organisations.
We at Contemporum. were inspired by the spirit of Carapau's founders from the very beginning. This prompted us to simply do more. You will see the launch of our joint, like first collection here from around the end of April 2023.
