"Tropferl" Ashtray - Patinated Brass

A small object with a great deal of personality.

The “Tropferl” #4301 was designed by Carl Auböck II around 1950. Its softly rounded shape resembles a drop – hence the charming Viennese name.

Made from patinated brass, the small ashtray has a satisfying weight in the hand. Its dark surface emphasises the soft, almost fluid quality of the form.

Like many Auböck objects, the “Tropferl” easily goes beyond its original purpose: as an ashtray, small catchall or sculptural brass object on a table, desk or sideboard.

A quintessential Auböck piece: reduced, tactile and with a touch of Viennese humour.
