Description
The “Cane” Letter Opener was designed by Carl Auböck II in 1948. Its slender, elongated form combines solid polished brass with a carefully wrapped handle. The textured weaving introduces warmth and tactility, contrasting with the smooth reflective surface of the metal and giving this functional desk object its distinctive character.
At 24.3 centimetres long, model #4233 feels balanced in the hand. Its narrow brass blade opens envelopes with a calm, controlled movement, while the weight of the solid material lends the object a palpable sense of substance. Produced by the Carl Auböck workshop in Vienna since 1948, the design unites everyday utility with timeless elegance. Through use and natural ageing, the polished brass gradually develops an individual patina.

Details
Info: After some time a patina can develop on the polished brass surface, which can be polished off with a soft cloth and then brass polish - if desired. Through the use of the original mold small errors, such as scratches or small creases can arise in the polished surface, which, however, do not detract from the charm of the object and underline the craft manufacturing process.
