Description
One small intervention transforms the entire form.
The candle holder #3470 was designed by Carl Auböck II in 1948. Its broad, organically shaped base is punctuated by a large opening – a simple yet striking detail that gives the substantial brass object an unexpected sense of lightness.
The candle holder is still produced in Vienna using the original moulds and traditional sand-casting process. Its body is darkly patinated while the upper surface is polished, creating the characteristic contrast between dark patina and warm, reflective brass found in many Auböck designs.
Model #3470 looks particularly beautiful as a pair, or combined with the related, lower #3469 candle holder without an opening in the base.
Quintessential Auböck: substantial yet light, functional yet distinctly sculptural.

Material: Brass patinated & Brasss polished.
Info: After some time a patina can develop itself on the polished brass surface, which can be polished off with a soft cloth and then brass polish - if desired. Through the use of the original mold small errors, such as scratches or small creases can arise in the polished surface, which, however, do not detract from the charm of the object and underline the craft manufacturing process. The patinated surface must only be carefully wiped with a dry cloth and never treated with cleaning agents. If you like, you can treat it afterwards for example with a linseed oil.
