Vase “Single Flower” – Patinated Brass

A vase that looks like a relic from another time.

The “Single Flower” was designed by Carl Auböck II around 1947 and carries the archive number #4276. Cast from a single piece of brass and subsequently patinated, its almost archaic appearance is reduced to one powerful, organic form designed to present a single flower.

Weighing just over two kilograms, the vase has a surprisingly strong presence. Its dark patina emphasises the sculptural surface and gives the object the appearance of a small bronze sculpture.

And this is precisely what makes it special: the “Single Flower” works perfectly well without a flower. Placed on a table, sideboard or shelf, it becomes an autonomous design object – a small sculpture that also happens to be a vase.
