Description
Aldo Londi’s blue Elephant combines a solid, compact body with an optimistic upward-pointing trunk. Designed for Bitossi in 1958, it belongs to the much-loved family of ceramic animals within the Rimini Blu collection.
Across cultures, elephants have come to represent good fortune, wisdom and strength. A raised trunk is traditionally associated with positive energy, making this figure a particularly meaningful object to give or keep.
Hand-impressed geometric motifs animate the surface beneath a brilliant crystalline glaze. The blue moves between turquoise, marine tones and dense cobalt as light crosses the relief.
At 22 centimetres long and weighing just over one kilogram, the Elephant feels substantial in the hand and assured within a room. It can serve as a small sculpture, an unusual paperweight or a gift intended to bring luck.
Each figure is decorated and glazed by hand in Italy. Natural variations ensure that every Elephant has an individual finish.
