Description

The "Man with Walking Stick" sculpture was designed by Carl Auböck II in 1953 and is one of the characteristic figures from his Vienna Workshop. Despite its clear, almost abstract form, the reduced depiction of a man with a walking stick has a remarkable presence and a subtle, timeless sense of humour.

The "Man with Walking Stick" is an independent small art object for a desk, shelf or sideboard and exemplifies Auböck's ability to reduce human figures to a few distinctive forms.

The sculpture continues to be produced in Austria using the original sand-casting moulds. The figure is completely patinated and not oiled. The walking stick and frame are made of polished brass, creating an effective contrast with the darker surface of the figure.
