Founded by Swiss designer Marcel Baer, the Barcelona-based studio is shaped by the meeting of different cultural perspectives. Swiss precision encounters the sensuality and expressive colour palette of the Mediterranean. The result is a collection of objects that are both functional and poetic—small everyday companions that transform a space without demanding attention.

The Mediterranean lies at the heart of every Octaevo collection. Its landscapes, myths and architectural forms are echoed alongside the colours of sun-faded façades, the deep blue of the sea and the graphic patterns of traditional ceramics. Octaevo translates these impressions into a contemporary design language: refined, vivid and touched by a subtle sense of humour.

The studio became particularly known for its distinctive waterproof paper vases. Delivered flat, they unfold in just a few simple steps to form sculptural covers for glasses and vessels. Illustrated faces, abstract motifs and intense colour combinations transform an ordinary object into an expressive design piece. The Octaevo collection also includes trays, candles, stationery and decorative accessories, all united by the studio’s unmistakable graphic signature.

Despite their playful appearance, the designs are carefully composed. Material, colour and proportion exist in a finely considered balance. Many pieces deliberately move between function and decoration, between two-dimensional illustration and sculptural presence. They bring warmth and personality to an interior while retaining the relaxed sense of effortlessness associated with Mediterranean spaces.
